Discovering the captivating allure of Niagara Falls is an essential part of any Ontario itinerary. While it may not have clinched a spot among the official Seven Wonders, Niagara Falls undoubtedly earns its own esteemed title as the eighth wonder. The falls’ majestic cascade, colliding with the serene lake, creates a perpetual mist that shrouds the surroundings in enchantment. Yet, the magnetic charm of Niagara extends far beyond the cascading waters, offering a treasure trove of family-friendly activities. In this extensive blog, we delve into the delightful experiences our family enjoyed during a memorable weekend getaway in Niagara, with the Hilton as our chosen retreat.
Hotel by the falls
Choosing to spend December 26th in the heart of Niagara, we found the perfect haven in the Hilton. As a family of five, including three young children, the Hilton’s two-bedroom suite proved to be an ideal choice. Opting for a room on the 43rd floor with a stunning lake view, we were treated to a breathtaking panorama of the American side of the falls. For those seeking unparalleled views of the Canadian side, the Marriott stands out as the preferred choice.
Adding to the allure of our stay at the Hilton was the 17th-floor indoor heated pool. This aquatic haven, adorned with playful overhead sprinklers, quickly became the highlight for our children. As night fell over Niagara, we found ourselves drawn to the mesmerizing display of fireworks visible from our Hilton sanctuary. The bursts of color against the backdrop of the falls added a touch of magic to our evening, creating a perfect ending to our day.
Clifton hill
Clifton Hill stands out for its lively and colorful environment, featuring attractions like the Niagara SkyWheel, a giant Ferris wheel with stunning views of the falls. The street is also home to the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum, arcades, mini-golf courses, and various themed restaurants, creating a lively and entertaining experience for visitors. The illuminated surroundings make it particularly vibrant during the evenings.
The following morning marked our departure from the Hilton, and we ventured to the Clifton Hill Family Restaurant for a delightful breakfast. The Christmas hot chocolate, a seasonal specialty, proved to be a delightful surprise and an absolute must-try for anyone visiting. Positioned just opposite the restaurant, the iconic SkyWheel awaited, promising our family an enthralling experience. Multiple rounds on this towering attraction provided us with breathtaking views, setting the stage for our next adventure—the nearby arcade. The arcade swiftly claimed the title of the second highlight for our kids, as they reveled in the excitement of games and the lively atmosphere.
Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls itself, while often bustling with activity, offers the opportunity for serene walks overlooking the falls. A unique feature that caught our attention was the swing right in front of the American Falls—an ingenious idea that promises unparalleled views while gently swaying in the breeze. While cruises and ziplining are popular activities at the falls, we opted to savor the beauty from different perspectives without indulging in these adrenaline-pumping experiences.
Our Niagara sojourn comprised indulging in the Hilton’s pools, enjoying the evening fireworks spectacle around 8 pm from our room, exploring the iconic Niagara Falls, relishing the SkyWheel, immersing ourselves in the arcade ambiance, and taking a leisurely stroll down Clifton Hill. These activities seamlessly catered to families with young children, creating an unforgettable experience amidst the enchanting backdrop of Niagara Falls.
In conclusion, a visit to Niagara Falls with family is a journey into enchantment, where the Hilton serves as a gateway to a world of captivating experiences. The falls, the SkyWheel, the arcade, and the charming Clifton Hill all contribute to a tapestry of memories that will resonate for years to come. Whether admiring the natural wonders or indulging in family-friendly activities, Niagara Falls stands as an enduring destination for those seeking both adventure and tranquility.
