And without any fancy tools!! This year, we hadn’t intended to throw a party for my son’s birthday. However, two days ago, I had a 9×13 inch cake made from the assortment of leftover bananas and blueberries. Surprisingly, it turned out delicious, so I decided to turn it into a dinosaur cake. The entire transformation took less than 30 minutes, using store-bought icing (Betty Crocker’s cream cheese icing).
looking for an easy dinosaur cake that is beginner friendly and one that doesn’t use a dozen fancy tools? Look no further!
Here are the steps to a super Easy Dinosaur cake:
- Cake (freshly baked or some leftover cake😉)
2. Make a stencil of a dinosaur by drawing it and cutting it out carefully.
3. Apply the dinosaur stencil onto the cake and sculpt the cake accordingly.
4. I chose different colors for each element and divided the icing into separate ziplock bags. The body would be green, the belly and fins blue, the party hat and eyes white, and the pom-poms on the party hat pink. For the eye, I used a chocolate chip. To make it more durable, I placed the smaller ziplock bag filled with icing inside the larger one..
5. Transfer cake to the right plate: it is important to carefully transfer the cake at this point on to the plate that you will be using for display.
6. Start with the body- outline, fill in and smooth with the back of a spoon.
7. Belly and fin color: outline, fill and then smooth the icing with a spoon
8. Now for the party hat and Pom Pom, finally a white circle for the eye and a chocolate chip for the pupil and tada!
Finished in no time and without any fancy tools. Enjoy!
