In this post, we will explore various strategies and tips to help stay-at-home moms boost their productivity, stay organized, and find a healthy balance between their family life and personal pursuits. By implementing these hacks, moms can maximize their productivity and create a fulfilling and balanced lifestyle. Here are 6 ways to be more productive as a Christian Stay at home Mom;
- Prioritise Tasks
As a mother of three who has recently relocated to a different country, managing various responsibilities can be challenging. To effectively manage my tasks, I find it beneficial to create a weekly to-do list. Subsequently, it is crucial to review the items on the list and identify any impending deadlines. By doing so, I can prioritise and allocate my time accordingly each day.
2. Time block
I learned a useful technique called time blocking from Jordan Page’s YouTube channel. Here’s an example: after dropping off two of my three kids at school in the morning, I allocate the time from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for activities such as enjoying a cup of coffee, reading the Bible, and catching up with my mom. I prefer to time block rather than set very precise time slots for different activities.
3. Set alarms or reminders
To ensure that everyone stays on schedule for school, I find it helpful to set alarms on Alexa. This way, not only can I be reminded, but the kids can also hear the signal indicating it’s time to finish eating and start getting dressed. With all the tasks involved in preparing everyone for the day, it’s easy to lose track of time, but these alarms help us stay organized and punctual.
4. Learn to say “no” or delegate
This advice is especially valuable for individuals who often feel overwhelmed by their numerous responsibilities. It’s important to consider that adding more tasks to your already extensive list may not be necessary. If you lack a sense of peace about a particular obligation, don’t hesitate to say no or contemplate delegating it to someone else. This concept is reminiscent of an anecdote from Acts (chapter 6) where the disciples, who were dedicated to spreading the gospel, encountered a significant issue concerning food distribution to widows. In order to maintain their focus on ministry, they wisely delegated the problem-solving task to seven capable individuals. At present, our children and our homes are also integral to our ministry, so it is crucial to decline commitments that do not bring peace and hinder productivity.
5. Pray and trust God
Occasionally, I experience a sense of dissatisfaction when I haven’t accomplished as much as I hoped, despite being active throughout the day. However, my favorite part of the day is when I find a quiet moment to sit down with my coffee, Bible, and highlighters. It’s during these moments that I often receive a meaningful message for the day. There’s something incredibly comforting about surrendering all the worries and concerns of this world at the feet of Jesus and entrusting Him with control. By dedicating the day to the Lord and praying for my family, I release the burden from my shoulders. This aligns with Jesus’ desire for us. Furthermore, I ask for wisdom, guidance, and grace to navigate the day ahead. Remarkably, I’m consistently amazed by the level of productivity I achieve on those days.
6. Rest and good health
I Prioritizing a good night’s sleep is crucial for feeling refreshed and revitalized. Aim to go to bed early to ensure an adequate amount of rest. Waking earlier than everyone else grants you a precious opportunity to enjoy some quiet time before the hustle and bustle begins. In addition, maintaining a healthy diet, engaging in regular exercise, and incorporating high-quality multivitamins into your routine are equally important. Don’t overlook the significance of periodic medical check-ups or blood tests, especially if you are experiencing unexplained fatigue. These assessments can provide valuable insights and help address any underlying issues.
In conclusion, being a stay-at-home mom presents unique challenges when it comes to productivity. However, by incorporating these productivity hacks into your daily routine, you can optimize your time, stay organized, and achieve a sense of accomplishment. Remember to prioritize self-care and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Each day may have its ups and downs, but by implementing these strategies and staying focused on your goals, you can create a fulfilling and productive lifestyle as a stay-at-home mom. Embrace the journey, celebrate your achievements, and don’t forget to give yourself grace along the way. With these productivity hacks in your toolkit, you can navigate the daily demands with greater efficiency and enjoy the rewards that come with being a stay-at-home mom.
